Acupuncture is a procedure that uses needles to stimulate different areas of the body depending on symptoms. It is a 10-20 minute procedure. The needles are generally the thickness of a piece of hair and most are not painful when inserted. Once we insert the needles, they will stay in for 10-20 minutes to help move your Qui (life force) and help the body focus where it needs to focus the body’s attention for repair.
It is based on Eastern Medicine which looks at treating the body as a whole. Sometimes we will use a philosophy of “hurts here needle here” that is more Japanese based philosophy and sometimes we will put acupuncture needles far from the sight of pain to release different meridians based on chinese acupuncture philosophy. It has a variety of uses for conditions such as:
- migraines
- plantar fasciitis
- Anxiety
- low back pain
- carpal tunnel
- general pain management.
